Optimal Brain Function Depends On Water
Tips from Pola Rest, Ageless Grace Educator/Trainer, St. Paul Area
Optimal brain function depends on water & other tips.
1. Remember to drink water, before and after doing your Ageless Grace! The brain needs water, and being dehydrated will negate some of the fabulous improvements to your brain that Ageless Grace produces. According to Dr. Corinne Allen, founder of the Advanced Learning and Development Institute:
“The Brain is 85% water. Optimal brain function depends on water and lots of it. … The brain has no way to store water. … When the brain is functioning on a full reserve of water, it will function at full capacity and you’ll think better and faster. Creativity is boosted.”
I also start every class with a short session of Breathe Out Loud, because oxygen is so good for the brain and the body!
2. I have a deck of 3 x 5 index cards which can be put on a ring. On the front of each card, I write the name and number of the tool, and then I put the various moves I like to make , or variations of a particular exercise, what it helps, or any other thing about how to do it. On the back, I put the names of the songs I have used with this particular tool. That way, I build up a variety of tunes I can use for any particular tool. When leading a class, I have all my tool cards arranged in the order I will use them, and I just flip through them from one to the next as we do the class.
3. I love choosing the music for a class session (I might be a frustrated DJ!). I choose the tools I will use ahead of time, then program the music for those tools. Of course I do themes (holidays, time of the year, April Fool’s day). I also make sure that I have music from many different time periods or genres in each class, just for variety. I listen to the whole 6 or 7 songs one after the other, to make sure there is a good flow and not all one kind of music.
