Neuroplasticity, Age UK and Ageless Grace - How Ageless Grace, Age UK and the science of neuroplasticity are helping older people live fuller lives.
I bring a love of movement and the philosophy that" through movement we find health" to my classes. I was certified as one of the first educators when Ageless Grace was first introduced in January 2011. I have been leading multiple weekly classes ever since in retirement centers, assisted living facilities, memory care facilities, fitness centers, and through the parks and recreation. I have and continue to give programs and demonstrations for clubs and organizations. As a Certified Nia Black Belt Teacher, I also have a background in dance, nutrition, and body building. My intention is to inspire my participants to take control of their health by embracing their bodies in thankfulness and moving within the range of motion that they have at that moment.
Fiona Furniss is a Nia blue belt teacher and Ageless Grace educator with a wealth of experience in various dance forms. She holds a BA degree in Speech & Drama and languages and is also a qualified Ballet & Modern dance teacher. Fiona worked in the wine industry for many years and was looking for exercise that was fun to do without the boredom and repetition found in the gym. She was thrilled to discover Nia and started teaching in Johannesburg in 2006 and has been teaching in Durban since she moved there 3 years ago.
